Narrative description of Project:
- Elaboration of
5 evidence-based medical guidelines for family doctors. Topics: hypertension,
urinary tract infections, low back pain, diabetes mellitus and prenatal care
with doctor and patient versions. Data from sentinel Network have been used to
prioritize the choice of the first guidelines.
The first
evidence-based practice guidelines in Romania made by Gps in collaboration with
experts from the Netherlands and from Romania.
The guidelines
were conceived in three forms, two for Gps- a documented version and an instant
one- and one for patients use.

Narrative description of Project:
- building up a
network of sentinel dispensaries (60 sentinel practices) giving a first
realistic insight about morbidity in general population (diseases and
complaints) as well as on items about the diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive
activities of Romanian family doctors, in order to do epidemiological research
and as a base for teaching.

collected data were presented in a book launched in a National Conference with
international participation, in Bucharest, May 2004

Narrative description of Project:
The Government
Memorandum about measures for the rehabilitation of the Mental Health (MH) care
system in Romania confirmed an improvement is necessary. Besides the
restructuring of the care system and the development of ambulatory psychiatric
assistance, training programs for medical staff and specialised training for the
family physicians (GPs) in the field of mental health were mentioned as features
for the next future.
The expected
result of the GP training has been formulated as the Training Program for
continuous medical education in the field of mental health will equip 36
trainers (GPs working in psychiatric hospitals or in general practice offices)
in the area of general psychiatry, actual possible therapeutic treatments,
including the impact and costs and psychiatric patient rights. Further they will
be informed about rehabilitation and reintegration programs. Than they should be
capable of delivering training sessions to at least another 360 GPs working in
psychiatric hospitals or general practice offices.
To
project was performed in Bucharest and Iasi together with some experienced
physicians of the CNSMF, two psychiatrists and a psychologist.

Implementing the PAL (Practical Approach to
Lung Health) Strategy in Romania

Narrative description of Project:
Implementing the PAL
(Practical Approach to Lung Health) Strategy in Romania (A primary health care
strategy for the integrated management of respiratory conditions in people five
years of age and over).
The
implementation of PAL strategy in Romania will be accomplished: situation
analysis, adaptation of PAL strategy to local context, development of training
materials and train of 80 GP’s, assure the conditions for PAL implementation in
sentinel dispensaries(acquisition of peak flow meter’s and PC’s), pilot
implementation and evaluation of results in one county.
The national PAL guidelines should be based on the international standards of
clinical care for respiratory illnesses that have gained general acceptance.
They should focus on the priority respiratory conditions encountered within the
district health system. They should be adapted to the national conditions and
health policy priorities while taking into account the organization of the
district health services and the skills of the existing health professionals
(general practitioners, nurses, etc.) who have to use them. For this purpose a
number of 5 local experts will work under the supervision of 1 international
expert.

Working group. in the selection of the family doctors where the PAL strategy
will be tested, in the procurement of the equipment and in the training
process.
Also will make the feasability study before and
after the implementation of the PAL strategy.

Narrative description of Project:
The pilot start
in 2007 with a group of GP trainees and GP trainers following the Dutch system:
self-managed learning, independent contacts with patients and weekly cursory
education based on reflection of experiences.
The medical
faculty of Craiova has to organize a group of GP trainees and couple these
trainees with a group of CNSMF GO trainers.
The GP trainers
and tutors get a specific training by the GP vocational training VUmc and are
supported via internet . Educational material is made available via internet and
could be made suitable for the cursory education by one of our Romanian
partners.
In
the long run the Romanian curriculum has to be adapted and competences and end
terms have to be formulated to facilitate further development of the GP
vocational training.
